Location: The Colorado Plateau in northern Arizona.
Discription: The Vermilion Cliffs National Monument includes the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, bordering Kaibab National Forest to the west and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to the east. 
Route: From Phoenix take I-17 north to Flagstaff. From Flagstaff take US 89 to US 89A past Bitter Springs and go west on 89A. For camping in the area see Kaibab NF Campsites, or for mountain biking and hiking in the area see Chunk Trail, or Rainbow Rim trails.
Elevation: 3,100 to 6,500 feet.
Scenery: Everything your eyes can handle.
Highlights: At the Navajo Bridge you're in desert sage, as you climb to Jacob Lake you enter pine forests.
Camping: See Kaibab NF Campgrounds.
Seasons: Tough in winter, driving conditions available at AZ Department of Public Safety (see below).
