Overview: Includes Jerome, the rowdy mining town turned ghost town, then artist colony, which clings precariously to Cleopatra Hill. Also, historic Clarkdale and Cottonwood, sleepy little Cornville, prehistoric Tuzigoot National Monument, the Verde Canyon Railroad, Dead Horse Ranch State Park, plus museums and landmarks. 
Time Allowed: A full day or weekend.
Rating: A lot to do and see. SR 89 is very scenic, narrow, with many hairpin curves, so drive with caution.
Camping: Dead Horse Ranch State Park.
Season: Year-round. Check road conditions during winter months.
