Route: Take US 60 (The Superstition Freeway) to Power Road, north. Power Road turns into Bush Highway and runs along the Salt River all the way to Saguaro Lake. Or, take US 60 to Ellsworth and go north over Usery Pass, which will take you to Salt River Recreation.

The Salt River Trail is a multi-use trail that runs between Phon D. Sutton and Goldfield Recreation Area.
Rating: Easy scenic hike and family friendly or novice mountain biking.
TH: The trailhead is just as you turn off Bush Hwy. at Phon D. Sutton. A small turn off and parking area is to your right and the trail runs directly east from the parking area.

Camping / Picnicking: Camping is allowed at Water Users, Coon Bluff, Goldfield and Phon D. Sutton. The fee is $9-$11 per site. You can picnic and fish all along the river, including Granite Reef Dam.

Salt River Recreation:

Tubing the Lower Salt River is a cool way to spend a hot summer's day. Salt River Recreation provides tube rental and shuttle bus service for $9. If you have your own tube, the bus ticket is $5. Salt River Rec. is open May-Sept., 7 days a week, beginning at 9 a.m. Life vests recommended, tennis shoes or other footwear a must, and children must be 8 year or older.

Floating Times: Saguaro Lake Ranch to Water Users 1/2 hr -- Water Users to Blue Point Bridge 1 1/2 hrs -- Blue Point Bridge to Goldfield 2 1/2 hrs -- Goldfield to Phon D Sutton 1 1/2 hrs -- Phon D Sutton to Tuber's Landing 2 1/2 hrs. Average float times at river flow rate of 1200-1800 cubic feet per second (ideal for tubing).
