Note: The road to Horseshoe lake and Bartlett Lake are often washed out. Always check before you go.
Bartlett and Horseshoe lakes are located in the Verde River Valley, roughly 30 miles north of Scottsdale. Bartlett, producer of substantial smallmouth bass, has boomed since the road was paved, while Horseshoe remains quieter and home of record crappie.
Route: Take Carefree Hwy, Scottsdale or Pima roads to Cave Creek Rd. and follow the signs

Recreation: Boating, fishing, camping.
Fishing: Bass, crappie, sunfish, catfish, bluegill, carp.
Restrictions: Lake levels fluctuate wildly, watercraft restriction apply (call).
Fees:$4 per vehicle per day and $2 per watercraft per day (may change without notice).
Seasons: Year-round but hot in summer.
