The Highline Trail provides 51 miles of spectacular views. It
begins at the Pine Trailhead and ends at Two-Sixty Trailhead on
State Route 260. This page covers the east end trails. 
This historic trail was established in the late 1800s to link
homesteads and ranches under the Mogollon Rim. It was designated a
National Recreation Trail in 1979.
NOTE: All trail distances are one-way. Most trails are open
to Mountain bikes but check with Payson Ranger Station. Trail
system is closed to all motorized vehicles.

Trailhead Access
Definitions: TH=Trailhead | TR=Trail | FR=Forest Service Road | SR=State Route
Pine TH: Reached by traveling
15 miles north of Payson on SR 87, turn right onto FR 298.
Facilities include toilet, corrals, and large parking area.
Geronimo TH: Reached by taking SR
87 to FR 64, turn right on FR 64 and travel 6 miles to FR 440, turn
north on FR 440 and travel 2 miles.
Nice Long Day Hike
Pine TH to Geronimo TH is 8.4 miles with car pick up
at either trailhead.

TR 31: The Highline Trail
Rating: More Difficult / Lenght: 51 miles.
TR 289: East Webber Trail
Rating: More Difficult / Length: 3 miles
A beautiful, little-used trail following Webber Creek, ending at a
spring flowing from under the Rim.
TR 228: West Webber Trail
Rating: Most Difficult / Length: 2 miles
A shady, little-used trail with many switchbacks. The trail takes
off from TR 217, 1/8th of a mile east of TR 240.

26: Pine Canyon Trail
Rating: More Difficult / Length: 8 miles
Offers beautiful views from the Rim. Runs along Pine Creek and past
Dripping Springs before ending near Pine Trailhead.
TR 217: Turkey Springs Trail
Rating: Most Difficult / Length: 2.5 miles
A seldom-used trail with beautiful views of the Rim.

16 Oak Springs Trail
Rating: More Difficult / Length: 5 miles
Goes into Oak Springs Canyon and Oak Springs. Easiest access.

A connecting trail between TR 26 and the Highline Trail TR 31.

A steep, short trail with switchbacks and loose rocks. Great views
from atop Milk Ranch Point.
TR 294 Rock Springs Trail
Rating: More Difficult / Length: 1.5 miles
The spring at trails end was used by Apaches and settlers. Access
from FR 64.
TR 240 Geronimo Trail
Rating: Easiest / Length: 3 miles
Provides access to TR 217, 228 & 289.
