The Arizona State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) assists private citizens, institutions, local governments, tribes, and state and federal agencies protect and enhance historic and archaeological properties. Site Steward Program volunteers, trained by SHPO, report destruction or vandalism of prehistoric, archaeological and paleontological sites through site monitoring.
