Prescott National Forest Campgrounds
The Prescott National Forest comprises about 1.25 million acres and borders three other National Forests. Approximately half of the forest is west of the city of Prescott, in the Juniper, Santa Maria, Sierra Prieta, and Bradshaw Mountains. The other half of the Forest lies east of Prescott and takes in the Black Hills, Mingus Mountain, Black Mesa, and the headwaters of the Verde River.

Campgrounds
MAP #1 Yavapai: 25
campsites, tables, grills, composting toilets, drinking water,
man-made 5 acre lake not stocked with fish, fishing fair to poor,
no swimming, boats with electric motors only, hiking in the Granite
Mountain Wilderness, recreational vehicles and camping trailers not
exceeding 40 feet, no hookups, dumpstations or shower facilities.
The campground is open year-long, first-come first-serve.
Directions: 8.4 miles from Prescott. Take Gurley Street west
to Grove Avenue. Turn north on Grove Avenue and proceed to the 4th
traffic light. Stay in the left lane through this intersection and
take Iron Springs Road. Follow Iron Springs Road for 3.2 miles to
the turnoff to Granite Basin Lake (Forest Road 374). Turn north on
FR 374 and follow for about 4 miles to the campground/picnic area
entrance.

MAP #2 White Spar: 60
campsites, tables, grills, vault toilets, drinking water, trash
collection, recreational vehicles (not exceeding 40 feet in
length), no hookups, dumpstations or shower facilities. Paved road
system to and throughout the campground.
Directions:10 min. from Prescott. From Prescott on Gurley
Street, turn south onto Montezuma Street which becomes U.S. Highway
89. Stay on Montezuma Street for 3 miles to Forest Road 62, turn
left, the campground entrance is just off the highway.

MAP #3 Lower Wolf Creek: 20
campsites, tables, grills, 3 vault toilets, no hookups or drinking
water, recreational vehicles not to exceed 40 feet.
Directions: 5 min. from Prescott, take the Senator Highway
(Mt. Vernon Avenue) south for about 6 miles, passing the entrance
to Goldwater Lake and Groom Creek. The pavement will end about 500
feet before you reach Forest Road 97. Turn right onto FR 97 and
travel 1.25 miles to the campground on the right .

MAP #4 Lynx Lake: 39 sites, tables, grills, drinking water,
toilets, store, marina, rental boats, no swimming, first-come
first-serve. Also at Lynx Lake: Hilltop Group Campground, contact district office for rates and information.
Directions: South off Hwy. 69 to FR 197 follow signs.

MAP #5 Mingus
Mountain: 24
campsites, tables, grills, 3 picnic sites, vault toilets, no
hookups, water, or trash collection. Open May through September,
with access to many trails.
Directions: From the Camp Verde take Highway 260 north
approximately 20 miles to the junction with Hwy 89A. Turn left onto
Hwy 89A and travel for about 14 miles through the historic mining
town of Jerome to the junction with FR 104, just before 89A
descends towards Prescott Valley. Turn left onto FR 104 and go
about 4 miles to the campground.

MAP #6 Potato Patch (consists
of two loops): Loop A has 28 family campsites, tables, grills,
drinking water, and campfire rings with three campsites accessible
for the disabled. Open May through October.
Loop B: 12 units designed to accomodate up to 40 foot long
recreational vehicles with 2 units accessible for the disabled.
Electricity is available at each camp unit.
Directions:From the Camp Verde take Highway 260 north
approximately 20 miles to the junction with Hwy 89A. Turn left onto
Hwy 89A and travel for about 14 miles through the historic mining
town of Jerome up to the summit on Mingus Mountain, the campground
turnoff will be to your right which is Forest Road 106.
